Hidden Leaf Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit coalition dedicated to recovering spent coffee grounds (SCG) from Starbucks and other partners — transforming waste into regenerative soil inputs, bioenergy, and community resilience.
We collaborate with businesses, universities, and local farms to create a closed-loop system that diverts organic waste from landfills and returns vital nutrients to the earth.
Step 1: Collection
We gather spent coffee grounds (SCG), cardboard, and other organic materials from local partners — right when you need them picked up.
Step 2: Processing
Collected materials are carefully stored and stabilized, then distributed to composting sites, regenerative farms, research labs, and businesses that integrate SCG into their production cycles.
Step 3: Regeneration
The materials are transformed into nutrient-rich soil amendments, biochar, and research-grade biomass — fueling a circular economy and keeping valuable resources out of landfills.

Whether you’re a business aiming to reduce waste costs, a university seeking research collaborations, or a farm in need of organic inputs —
Hidden Leaf Foundation provides tailored solutions that support your sustainability goals and strengthen our circular economy.

We’ve collected 39,376 pounds of spent coffee grounds (SCG) across 193 collections — averaging 204 pounds per pickup.
On average, we collect every 4 days, recovering more than 58 pounds per day from local partners.
